Americans for the Arts is a national organization working to advance the arts in America. An excellent resource for arts professionals, this site includes a searchable database of local, state, regional and national arts service organizations throughout the country.

Arts Education Partnership is a national coalition of arts, education, business, philanthropic and government organizations that demonstrate and promote the essential role of the arts in the learning and development of every child and in the improvement of America’s schools.

Community Partnership for Arts and Culture is a nonprofit service and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and unifying Greater Cleveland’s arts and culture sector.

Cuyahoga Arts and Culture is the government agency that oversees and distributes funds from a cigarette tax approved by voters in 2006 to support arts and cultural programs in Cuyahoga County.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.

Economic Development & Community Revitalization

The Fund for Our Economic Future (FFEF) is an unprecedented collaboration of more than 50 private and corporate foundations seeking to dramatically improve the economic climate in Northeast Ohio. For the first time, these organizations are pooling their resources — a targeted $30 million — to help return the region to prosperity and growth. FFEF supports organizations that have the potential to strengthen Northeast Ohio as a whole.

Neighborhood Progress, Inc. (NPI) is a nonprofit organization that builds thriving neighborhoods in Cleveland through innovative programs and services. Programs are developed in partnership with community development corporations, the City of Cleveland, the philanthropic and corporate community, private developers and financial institutions.

Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG) is a national network of foundations and philanthropic organizations whose members support community-based efforts that improve economic and social conditions in low-income communities. Although NFG is a membership organization for funders, the site offers all visitors excellent resources related to neighborhood development and community change.

Education

Catalyst Ohio is a bimonthly, nonprofit newsmagazine that documents, analyzes and supports school improvement efforts across Ohio’s large urban school districts, with special emphasis on Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus.

The Center on Education Policy is a national, independent advocate for public education and for more effective public schools. The Center helps Americans better understand the role of public education in a democracy and the need to improve the academic quality of public schools.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District serves approximately 50,000 students in 114 schools. The district envisions 21st Century Schools of Choice where students will be challenged with a rigorous curriculum that considers the individual learning styles, program preferences and academic capabilities of each student, while utilizing the highest quality professional educators, administrators and support staff available.

The Education Commission of the States (ECS) is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit organization that helps governors, legislators, state education officials and others identify, develop and implement public policies to improve student learning at all levels.

Education Week is America’s online education newspaper. Free registration provides access to extensive archives, the current issue of Education Week and Teacher Magazine, and The Daily News, the Web’s most comprehensive source of education headlines from newspapers around the world.

Ohio Department of Education is dedicated to promoting high academic achievement for all students. The mission of ODE is to collaborate with the education community to effectively serve all students; to ensure that Ohio’s education system is focused on excellence; and to provide differentiated support that addresses unique needs within Ohio’s schools.

Philanthropy Ohio’s education policy initiative entitled “Education for Ohio’s Future,” seeks to help members become more effective education grantmakers by better understanding public education in the state.

U.S. Department of Education’s mission is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellent and ensuring equal access.

Environment

Cleveland Carbon Fund sponsors the creation and implementation of local carbon reduction projects that help foster economic development, social well-being and environmental stewardship in the Cleveland community.

Consultative Group on Biological Diversity (CGBD) is a grantmakers’ forum that seeks to focus attention on issues and program opportunities related to the conservation and restoration of biological resources. Non-members can use the site to access publications and foundation listings.

Environmental Grantmakers Association supports member organizations in grantmaking that protects the environment and its inhabitants. While the site is primarily for funders, nonprofit organizations will find the resource section helpful.

The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities is an active resource and focal point for foundations, nonprofit organizations and other partners working to solve the environmental, social and economic problems created by suburban sprawl and urban disinvestment.

GreenCityBlueLake  is the portal to Northeast Ohio sustainability efforts. The site highlights projects, events and volunteer and employment opportunities in the region.

Human Services

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is one of the nationís premier policy organizations working at the federal and state levels on fiscal policy and public programs that affect low- and moderate-income families and individuals.

Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families serves as a point of contact for grantmakers seeking collegial and collaborative relationships with other funders concerned with children, youth, and families.

Philanthropy

Council on Foundations is a membership organization of grantmakers that provides leadership expertise, legal services and networking opportunities to its members and general information about the field to the public.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy is the newspaper of the nonprofit world.

The Foundation Center is the nation’s leading information source on philanthropy and is dedicated to serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media and the general public.

Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues advocates for increased support of LGBT issues within organized philanthropy.

Independent Sector is a membership organization helping to strengthen philanthropic organizations in their work on behalf of the public good.

The National Center for Family Philanthropy promotes philanthropic values, vision and excellence across generations of donors and donor families.

The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy works to strengthen the nonprofit sector and improve its ability to represent and serve politically, economically or socially disadvantaged individuals by promoting greater philanthropic openness and accountability and responsiveness to these individuals.
